The Muscatine County Attorney is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Muscatine County Attorney.  Primary duties of the position include prosecution of criminal offenses (primarily misdemeanors under state code and City of Muscatine ordinances) and representation in mental health and substance abuse involuntary commitment proceedings. Attorney will have significant involvement in pursuing alternatives to full commitment proceedings and will work closely with community services and outside agencies.

Position requires a valid license to practice law in the State of Iowa. Candidates who have taken the July, 2014, Iowa bar examination may be considered. Final job offer will not be made to unlicensed candidates pending receipt of bar results. In addition, the position is contingent upon approval of funding from the City of Muscatine.

Experience in the practice of law is preferred. In addition, experience with social services, mental health, substance abuse, and other social welfare issues is preferred. Those candidates who have completed a prosecution internship, legal clinic, or clerk duties for a law firm or judge will be preferred.

Starting salary is $50,000 per year. Muscatine County offers a competitive benefits package. Muscatine County residency is not a requirement of employment.

The Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office in Storm Lake, Iowa is seeking applications for
the position of assistant county attorney, one of three assistants in the office.  Interviews will
be held until the position is filled, with an anticipated start date of
August 1, 2014.  The position is classified as a part-time position, allowing for private practice opportunities in addition to a
fairly full load of prosecution and other county work, including a significant amount of district
and district associate court prosecution once applicant’s skill level is confirmed or established.

Must want to try cases.  Duties will include handling a variety of felony, post-conviction relief, & misdemeanors, may include traffic court prosecutions as well as some civil and juvenile matters
on a rotating basis. 

Office-sharing arrangement and civil practice possibilities available to supplement what is
classified as a part-time position.  Salary approx. $4

ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY

The Poweshiek County Attorney is accepting applications for a part-time Assistant County Attorney. Duties of the position include prosecution of simple misdemeanor and some indictable offenses, mental health cases, and other duties as required.

Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa. The ideal candidate will have trial experience and at least two years experience practicing law. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and the ability to manage a large caseload. Prior prosecution experience is preferred but not required.

Salary range for the position is $18,000 to $28,000 depending upon qualifications and experience. Applicants will be subject to a background check and finalists will be required to complete a pre-employment drug-screen and physical.

The Mahaska County Attorney seeks qualified applicants for the position of
Assistant County Attorney. Duties of the position will include prosecution of
criminal offenses, juvenile delinquency and child in need of assistance cases,
mental health commitments, and representation of county officials in civil matters.
The position is responsible to and supervised by the County Attorney.

Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa, or obtain admission
to the Bar on or before October 1, 2014. Experience is preferred. Knowledge of and
experience with technology in both the law office and the courtroom setting is preferred.
Salary range is $45,000 - $57,000, and is based upon experience.
